Toronto Therapist in Downtown, Amy Babcock in Downtown

Green Shield:

I am an Approved Green Shield Provider and can submit claims on your behalf if you have Green Shield coverage. This means that you do not have to pay in advance and wait for reimbursement. Rather, you will attend sessions and I will submit claims for the services directly to your insurance provider.

Coverage for Psychotherapy:

If your coverage is for 'psychotherapy', you can ask your insurance provider about working with a Registered Social Worker who delivers psychotherapy services. The Controlled Act of Psychotherapy outlines that qualified Registered Social Workers have access to the title Psychotherapist and are legally designated to provide psychotherapy. I can provide you with my registration number to support any inquiries that you wish to make to your insurer.

Coverage for Social Work:

I am a Registered Social Worker in good standing the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers (OCSWSSW). All of my receipts include my registration number. If you have coverage for Social Work services, my receipt and registration is all you will need in order to submit for reimbursement. Always check with your insurance provider around the details of your coverage!

Coverage for Psychology:

I have the benefit of working with a Consulting Psychologist. This means that whether your benefits cover Social Work or Psychology, I will be able to issue the appropriate receipt for service so that you can submit for reimbursement.

If you are a Registered Indian under the Indian Act (ie: have a status card) you likely qualify for no cost counselling services through NIHB. Please see my NIHB page to learn more or contact me directly at 416-893-1973.

All sessions are 50 minutes in length and the fee is $140 per session ($160 for couples and families). Once the session is complete, we will spend a few minutes checking in about how it went for you and scheduling our next appointment. Payment is due at the time of service and can be made by cash, credit card, or e-transfer. I require 24 hours notice for cancellations.

Post Secondary Students:

If you are a post-secondary student receiving OSAP and diagnosed with a disability, you can visit your post-secondary school's accessibility office and apply for the Bursary for Students with Disabilities. Students diagnosed with a mental health disorder can apply and receive up to $2000 for support services. Additional details can be found here
As well, as a student you may have coverage for therapy through your health benefits plan. Some students opt out of their health coverage, and different schools/campuses may provide different plan options. Click here to see an example of a health benefits plan for a full-time undergraduate student at the University of Toronto (St. George Campus). This plan provides $125 per session of coverage for up to 20 visits per policy year. This allows for an excellent amount of access to therapy if needed. Check to see what your specific plan offers you. You can then engage in therapy and be reimbursed for your expenses in the amount that the plan specifies.
